An extended work for choir and organ by "Britain's greatest living composer of Art Song" (Musical Opinion) and "a song composer as fine as Finzi and Gurney" (BBC Music Magazine). The work was premiered in Gloucester Cathedral in November 2018 by the Choir fo Gloucester Cathedral under the direction of Adrian Partington. 'Requiem' was commissioned by Bryce and Cynthia Somerville. The first movement 'Requiem aeternam" is available separately: NOV296956. “a contemplative work of profound beauty” and a “significant contemporary Requiem” Robert Hugill (Planet Hugill)“a masterpiece” - Roderic Dunnett (Church Times)“The ‘Sanctus’ is a sophisticated, extended movement, with a thrilling climax (‘Hosanna!’); the ‘Pie Jesu’ is an exquisite miniature, with a most affecting simplicity; the ‘Agnus Dei’ is a movement of suppressed passion, suffused by a rather Gallic melancholy. This Requiem will be a major addition to the concert and liturgical choral repertoire” John Quinn (Seen and Heard)An extended work for choir and organ by "Britain's greatest living composer of Art Song" (Musical Opinion) and "a song composer as fine as Finzi and Gurney" (BBC Music Magazine).
