The popular series "Musik für Blockflöte" [Music for Recorder] has been continued in the last years with numerous highly interesting new discoveries. Some of the works from the Flauto e voce series have now appeared on CD, the theme here being Baroque bird arias and love songs from Germany, England, France and Italy as performed by the Collegium "Flauto e voce" with its founder Peter Thalheimer and the singers Susan Eitrich and Ute Kreidler. As can be discerned from the variety of arias on this recording, the imagination of the poets was as boundless as that of the composers. In its proximity to human as well as bird song, but especially in the simple beauty of its sound, therecorder appealed immediately to listeners of yore as much as it appeals to today's listeners.
