Although this is a true solo work with ample scope for improvisation(ad libitum) for the soloist, the orchestra has also been given a significant role that goes beyond mere accompaniment. The guitar section has been written out in tablature and in notes, which makes it easier for the soloist. A challenging work, not for the faint hearted!
