Vent was commissioned in 1990 by the American flautist Andrew Sterman, and first performed in New York. It is scored for Flute and Piano. The Pulitzer Prize winning American composer David Lang was born in 1957. He is passionate, prolific, and complicated, embodying the restless spirit of invention. Deeply versed in the classical tradition, he is also committed to music that resists categorization, constantly creating new forms.
