Funk is a very rhythmic music style that finds its origin in the 1960s. The American artist James Brown and the New Orleans-based group The Meters are considered the founders of this genre. Funk is characterized by an independentbass line that emphasizes each first beat of the bar (the one), as well as by a rhythmic combination of syncopated melodies and accompaniments with lots of harmonic additions.
