Eino Leino is the true national poet of Finland. Decade after decade, his lyrics continue to inspire, and especially they inspire composers. Iiro Rantala has composed 10 songs set to Leino's lyrics. Four of the songs are based on the famous Smiling Apollo poem. Leino's colourful and strong text is matched with Rantala's up-to-date style, which combines song and lied - not forgetting humour.
