American folk, country and bluegrass composer John Hartford was well-known for his quirky compositions as well as his ability to tap-dance whilst playing the Banjo. He also possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of old-time fiddle tunes, as evidenced by this collection. Included in this book are all 22 fiddle tunes from Hartford 's Hamilton Ironworks album. Also featured are many of his variations, suggested chords, information on each song's origins and insights on how to approach them. This collection of fiddle tunes provides players with an accurate source so as to incorporate these great pieces into their repertoire. The difficulty level of the pieces ranges from relatively basic fiddling to solos that employ a range of techniques such as slides, alternate tunings and playing on up the fingerboard. Each tune is presented in standard notation and in Mandolin tab. John Hartford's Old-Time Fiddle Favorites is a must-have for any fan of John Hartford's music and for all old-time musicians.
