Although Belgian composer Arthur Bosmans (1908 - 1991) was born in Brussels, he lived most of his life in Brazil, having gained Brazilian citizenship in 1953. He first moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1940 in order to conduct the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra. Later, he became the chair of composition and conducting at the Music School of the University of Minas Gerais State in Belo Horizonte.
