Il Dettato Musicale features a number of ear training exercises to help musicians recognise harmonic and melodic intervals, identify rhythmic and melodic errors, as well as to reconstruct a melody by putting the beats indicated in the correct order, all helping to encourage full development of a pupil's musical ability. Volume 1 aims to gradually strengthen the ability to memorise a piece of music through the recognition of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic elements. The accompanying CD includes demonstrations of all the exercises.
